Retirement is the withdrawal from one’s position or occupation or from one’s active working life.

Here in the Philippines, 60 years old and above are the retirement age. While in the country Thailand, they are letting retired and elderly people take up small jobs.

They say that this helps to boost the self-esteem of their elders who are still valuable members of their society.

A netizen from Thailand shared a post on Facebook named Palakorn Tesnam. He narrated a story about meeting a 81- year old man who still works as a sles assistant in a shopping mall.

While looking around, the old man come towards him and asked if he needed some shopping carts and the conversation started from there.

An inspiring conversation was created. Palakorn asked the old man specify as Uncle Pracha. Despite on his age, why is he still working. He replied that he still needs a food to be serve on their table.

“Because I’m still hungry, so I can’t stop working. Every second is money. It’s really good that the manager lets me work here,” Uncle Pracha said.

As the conversation goes on and on, Palakorn knew that Uncle Pracha used to be a CEO of a business that had over 200 workers under his management. But unfortunately it was already closed.

Here’s what Uncle Pracha said “I didn’t have any true friends.”

“No one gave me a hand when I was in trouble, so I had to do everything by myself,” he said, adding that he is now doing his best at his current job as a sales assistant, which keeps him happy.

A friendly advice was given to Palakorn

“Don’t drink too much, don’t smoke, and don’t drink those soft drinks too much,” Uncle Pracha told him.

“But most importantly – don’t be too serious. It’s not good for your health.”
