Lola, nagta-trabaho at sumisisid pa din sa ilalim ng dagat upang kumuha ng barya para may maipakain sa pamilya

Being a mother is the one who is committed to loving her children into standing on higher ground than the environment surrounding them. Mothers are endowed with a love that is unlike any other love on the face of the earth.

Just like this mom who was already 74 years of age named Lola Maria. She still works hard all for her family and to have food on the table.

In today’s life, there is no easiest way to save and earn money especially for those who are not qualified enough for a decent job.

Also at her age, it was really hard to have strong and fit body. Despite of her age, she still work for a little less amount of money.

Diving every day in the deep sea to collect coins is her way of living and earning money. She knew how important and valuable every single coin she got.

Thankfully, there are people who are throwing out coins somewhere in Dalahican Ferry Terminal at Lucena, Quezon maybe used for making wishes and some tourist wants to see our native Filipinos to dive so they throw coins in order for them to be satisfied.

Lola Maria is one of the oldest divers that earns about P100 to P200 depending on the coins tourists throw in the sea.

But she also had difficulty for she has a poor eyesight, even her small boat has a lot of holes and often gets broke.

Lola Maria’s story was featured in Front Row, a GMA documentary program entitled “Mga Barya ni Lola”.

She said that there was a time when her grandchildren are helping her to dive in weekends. Also her husband was diving before and now begging coins in the street.

She was truly a super grandmother.
